Who we are

Our website address is: https://joneruizguitar.com/.

Email Newsletter, Free Downloads, and Kit

When you request a free download or subscribe to our email list, we collect the information you submit, such as your email address and any optional information you choose to provide.

Depending on the signup form, landing page, and services used, we may also receive information associated with your signup, including the date and time of signup, the form or landing page used, the referring page, campaign or UTM information, IP address, approximate location, browser or device information, consent status, email-delivery status, and interactions with our emails.

We use this information to deliver the resource you requested, confirm your subscription, send confirmation and welcome emails, provide occasional guitar tabs, arrangements, lessons, videos, new-release information, product news, and shop updates, manage subscriber preferences, prevent spam or abuse, and understand how our signup pages and emails perform.

We use Kit, Inc., formerly known as ConvertKit, as our email marketing service provider. Kit may host our signup forms and landing pages, store subscriber information, send emails, manage subscriptions and unsubscribes, and provide email-delivery and engagement reporting.

Kit may record information about email delivery, reported email opens, and link clicks. Reported email opens may be measured using a small transparent tracking image contained in an email. Open and click information may not always be accurate because some email providers and security systems automatically load images or check links.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link included at the bottom of emails sent through Kit. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your subscriber information.

We retain subscriber information while you remain subscribed and for as long as reasonably necessary to operate our email program, deliver requested resources, honor unsubscribe requests, maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. After you unsubscribe, we may retain limited information necessary to ensure that we continue to honor your request.

Kit may process subscriber information in the United States and other countries using the safeguards described in its applicable privacy and data-processing documentation.

For information about how Kit processes newsletter subscriber information on behalf of creators, please review the Kit Data Processing Addendum. For information about Kit’s own privacy practices, please review the Kit Privacy Policy.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address, also called a hash, may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine whether you use it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images that contain embedded location data, such as EXIF GPS data. Visitors to the website may be able to download and extract location information from images on the website.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies are provided for your convenience so that you do not need to enter your information again when leaving another comment. These cookies may last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we may set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we may set cookies to save your login information and screen-display preferences. Login cookies generally last for two days, and screen-options cookies generally last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login may persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie may be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply identifies the post ID of the article you edited. It generally expires after one day.

Our website, analytics services, embedded content, and email signup services may use cookies or similar technologies for functionality, security, attribution, analytics, and performance measurement. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, although disabling cookies may affect the operation of some website features.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles and pages on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, images, audio, forms, or articles. Embedded content from another website behaves in the same way as if the visitor had visited that other website directly.

These websites may collect information about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content. This may include monitoring your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account with that service and are logged in to it.

Who We Share Your Data With

If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the password-reset email.

We may share personal information with service providers that are reasonably necessary to operate our website, shop, email program, and related services. These providers may include website-hosting, security, spam-prevention, analytics, email-delivery, order-processing, payment-processing, and technical-support providers.

For example, subscriber information may be processed by Kit so that we can deliver requested downloads, manage subscriptions, and send emails. Website usage information may be processed by Google Analytics when that service is enabled.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to a valid legal request, protect our rights or users, investigate fraud or abuse, or maintain the security of the website.

We do not sell or rent newsletter subscriber information.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata may be retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website, if any, we store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. Registered users may be able to view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except that they may not be able to change their usernames. Website administrators may also view and edit that information.

Newsletter subscriber information is retained as described in the “Email Newsletter, Free Downloads, and Kit” section above. Other information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including providing services, maintaining business and tax records, resolving disputes, preventing fraud, enforcing agreements, and meeting legal obligations.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, have left comments, made a purchase, or joined our email list, you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, including information you provided to us. You may also ask us to correct or erase personal information we hold about you.

These rights may be subject to applicable legal exceptions. For example, we may need to retain certain information for administrative, security, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, legal, or compliance purposes.

Unsubscribing from marketing emails stops future marketing messages but does not necessarily delete all information associated with your subscription. To request deletion or another privacy-related action, contact us using the information at the end of this policy.

Where We Send or Process Your Data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service.

Information may be processed by service providers located in the United States or other countries. When applicable, providers may use contractual or other safeguards intended to protect personal information transferred between countries.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to help understand how visitors use this website. Depending on our configuration and your device or browser settings, Google Analytics may collect information such as pages visited, referral information, approximate location, browser and device information, interactions with the website, cookie identifiers, and the date and time of a visit.

Google may process this information according to its own terms and privacy practices. You can review Google’s Privacy Policy for additional information.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our website, services, providers, or legal obligations change. When we make changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date shown at the top of this page.
