I identify one or two important harmonic arrivals in each section and shape the surrounding notes toward them. The bass should be present enough to explain the change but not so strong that it breaks the atmosphere.
Another challenge is avoiding accidental accents from difficult left-hand shifts. I isolate each shift, prepare the destination silently, and then place it back into the phrase. That keeps technical effort from becoming an unwanted musical event.
